Emerging Investigator Awards for Health 2017: The recommendations of the international interview panel will be presented at the HRB Board for approval on 30 June and candidates will be notified in early July. Budgets and contract negotiations will be then carried out during the summer.

Collaborative Doctoral Awards in Patient-focused Research (CDA) 2018:  The Collaborative Doctoral Awards aim to support excellent doctoral training programmes in patient-focused research.

The pre-application stage closed on 28 June and 41 applications were submitted to the HRB. After an eligibility step verification, pre-applications will be reviewed by an international panel who will meet in Dublin on the 13 September. Panel experts will discuss the applications and make a recommendation on the ones to invite to the full application stage. The full application stage will open shortly afterwards.

Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018: The call for the National Cancer Institute Cancer Prevention Fellowship Programme 2018 is now open. The fellowship provides training for post-doctorate candidates from the health professions, biomedical, and behavioural sciences to become leaders in the field of cancer prevention and control.

Applicants from Ireland must contact the Health Research Board first to ensure that eligibility criteria are satisfied and to obtain an official tracking number from the HRB and submit their application prior to the 25 August 2017 application deadline using the NCI online application system. If successful, the awardee with carry out a Master's programme in public health (MPH) in the first year of the award in Ireland, before relocating for 3 years to the National Cancer Institute in the US. The awardee can also avail of a year funding for relocating back to Ireland. 

Applied Partnership Awards (APA) 2017 Second Peer Review Cycle: The APA 2017 call is currently open, and will remain open until 15 September 2017. 

The aim of the Applied Partnership Awards is to support high quality applied research projects through research partnerships between academic researchers and knowledge users in policy and practice. The research projects should target research that will support the work of healthcare policy and service delivery partners.  

Ulysses 2017. The Health Research Board (HRB) is partnering with the Irish Research Council's (IRC) Ulysses travel grant to fund a number of research visits to France in the areas of patient orientated research, population health or health services research. Updates on Joint programming calls 

Health Diet, Healthy Life Policy Evaluation Network (HDHL_PEN) received 54 applications to an Expression of Interest call.  Four Irish applicants were successfully selected to participate in the full application phase.  The full proposal submission date is October 2017 and the panel meeting will take place in November 2017
