Investigator Led Project awards 2017 - launching today

25 August 2016

The Investigator Led Projects (ILP) 2017 scheme replaces the HRB Health Research Awards.

There are extensive details about this new scheme available in the Guidance Notes that accompany the grant call. A pre-recorded webinar that outlines the significant aspects of the scheme is also available to view online. See links below.

The ILP scheme is aimed at Lead Applicants from HRB approved host institutions. Co-applicants and collaborators from outside the Republic of Ireland are welcome where their participation clearly adds value to the project.

The ILP scheme will provide opportunities to fund excellent research in Patient Orientated Research (POR), Health Services Research (HSR), and Population Health Research (PHR). It is anticipated that there will be three rounds of the ILP funding scheme throughout the HRB Strategy 2016-2020; launching in 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Please note that the ILPs have been designed to complement and not duplicate two new project funding schemes under the HRB strategy. These are, the Definitive Interventions and Feasibility Awards (DIFA) and the Applied Partnership Awards (APAs). Therefore the ILP scheme will not support Intervention studies, or projects solely focused on national health and social care needs and which will not add to the scientific research base at international level.

Questions about the call can be e-mailed to Dr Susan Quinn, e squinn(at)hrb.ie. The closing date for applications will be 1pm, Thursday 13 October 2016.
