Research stars of the future

2 June 2016

Congratulations to all the participants in the HRB-TMRN START competition

Students at the START prize giving ceremony

START (Schools Teaching Awareness of Randomised Trials) is the brain-child of the good folks at the HRB-TMRN. School children were asked to come up with ideas and question that they thought should be researched, and then conduct that research. Entries included questions like:

  • Does homework make children fee stressed?
  • Can cartoons, comics and visual aids help children to achieve better test results?

First prize went to the 6th Class of Scoil Ide, Corbally, Limerick with their research on 'Does an upcoming triathlon (or having a physical goal) lead to increased participation in fitness activities and increased fitness levels?'
