The HRB is responsible for the specification and maintenance of the NPSDD on behalf of the Department of Health and Children (DOHC). This Database facilitates the collection and reporting of data on people with a physical, sensory or speech and language disability in the Republic of Ireland, who wish to register on the Database. The Database currently has in excess of 27,000 registrations and has been implemented in all HSE areas. The NPSDD is a web-enabled centralised database hosted by the Local Government Computer Services Board (LGCSB). The HSE accesses the NPSDD via the Government Virtual Private Network (VPN) and staff have access only to the data relevant to their region. The HRB provides full software training for all users and is also responsible for frontline software support. Any software issues outside of this remit are dealt with by an external software developer.
