						<description><![CDATA[Applications are invited for the whole time permanent post of Senior Researcher in the Health Research Board. The Senior Researcher will be seconded from the Health Research Board to the National Advisory Committee on Drugs (NACD) for a minimum term of four years.
The Health Research Board is the lead agency in Ireland supporting and funding health research. We provide funding, maintain health information systems and conduct research linked to national health priorities. Our aim is to improve people’s health, build health research capacity and make a significant contribution to Ireland’s knowledge economy.
The National Advisory Committee on Drugs (NACD), advises the Office of the Minister of Drugs and Government in relation to the prevalence, prevention, treatment and consequences of drug use in Ireland, based on its analysis of research and information available to it. The Committee oversees the delivery of an agreed work programme aimed at addressing the priority information gaps and deficiencies in the area of drug use. ]]></description>

The Health Research Board (HRB) is the lead agency in Ireland supporting and funding health research.&nbsp; Within the HRB, the Research Strategy and Funding directorate is responsible for all aspects of external research funding. The directorate currently manages funding programmes and commitments worth over €180 million and is organised into three units.
<ol style="margin-top: 0pt;"><li style="margin: 0pt;"><span>Research Management Unit, with responsibility for funding projects, programmes, training and career support</span></li><li style="margin: 0pt;"><span>Policy, Evaluation and External Relations Unit, with responsibility for the development of research funding policy, evaluating the outcomes of HRB funded research and promoting national and international links</span></li><li style="margin: 0pt;"><span>Research Infrastructure and Special Initiatives Unit, with responsibility for developing the infrastructure to support health research in Ireland and for managing special initiatives </span></li></ol>
A vacancy has arisen for a Programme Manager to work in the Research Strategy and Funding Directorate. The person appointed will be deployed in the first instance in the Research Infrastructure and Special Initiatives Unit. The Programme Manager will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering initiatives to improve the infrastructure for health related research in Ireland. The focus will be on clinical research-related infrastructure for the next two years, but may change over time.]]></description>

Funding covers all areas of health research from biomedical, translational, clinical and practice-based research, through to population health and health systems and services research.

						<title>Health Information Manager</title>

						<description><![CDATA[The Health Research Board (HRB) is the lead agency in Ireland supporting and funding health research. We provide funding, maintain health information systems and conduct research linked to national health priorities. 
Our aim is to improve people’s health, build health research capacity and make a significant contribution to Ireland’s knowledge economy. The Health Information and In-house Research Directorate of the HRB manages all the HRB’s national health information systems and in-house research. 
The Directorate comprises&nbsp;four specialist units in the areas of alcohol and drugs, child health, disability, and mental health. The Mental Health Research Unit (MHRU) is responsible for managing the National Psychiatric Inpatient Reporting System (NPIRS) which collects information on all admissions to and discharges from psychiatric hospitals and units in Ireland. The unit is working in collaboration with the Health Service Executive to develop a web-based mental health information system, called WISDOM. 
This system will capture information on inpatient and community care services in Ireland which will be used to facilitate delivery of a quality mental health service. WISDOM will be implemented as a proof of concept in Donegal in 2008. The HRB invites applications for the post of Health Information Manager in the Health Information and In-House Research Directorate. The successful candidate will manage the existing National Psychiatric Inpatient Reporting System and the implementation of WISDOM.]]></description>
