HRB and SFI issue first joint funding award
9 February 2010
Patient-Oriented Research, Medical devices, Diagnostics and E-Health to benefit.
In a 'first' for both organisations the Health Research Board and Science Foundation Ireland have launched a joint scheme of 'Translational Research Awards'. This initiative will see funding resources targeted into areas which offer the greatest potential for translation into impacts and benefits for health and long term economic development.
'This scheme gives us the best of both worlds', according to Enda Connolly, CEO at the HRB. ‘SFI invests in academic research to generate new knowledge and leading edge technologies. The HRB supports research to improve people’s health and change the way we deliver care. This new scheme will bring together the expertise of the academic and the clinician to ensure the outcomes of research can be applied in health practice’.
The awards will be investigator driven with clear milestones and realistic deliverables. More details of the scheme can be found at the link below to the grant notice.
