HRB announce 47 Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination awards.

The HRB has awarded €1.9 million in funding to 47 projects designed specially to enhance the transfer of research findings into health policy, clinical practice and public knowledge.

‘These awards blow away the stereotypical image of the ‘researcher in their ivory tower’’, says Graham Love Chief Executive of the HRB. ‘From recruiting actors with intellectual difficulties to explain research findings about the challenges faced by people with an intellectual disability over 40 years of age, to art workshops for dementia patients and caregivers to highlight the impact of stress on caregivers, these researchers have demonstrated tremendous ingenuity in their desire to make their research findings known and to make a difference to health care and health services’.

The awards are part of the HRB Knowledge Exchange and Dissemination Scheme. This scheme is aimed at existing HRB grant holders and allows them to apply for additional funding for knowledge exchange and dissemination activities that are explicitly linked to their existing award but not noted in the original award.  Each award has very definite aims and targets and is intended to increase awareness of the research and its potential impact.  The scheme has been widely welcomed by the research community and their stakeholders.

A summary list of all 47 awards, grouped by their host institution, is shown below along with a second list which gives a more detailed lay summary of each award.
