Dr Shaw is a consultant to a number of world leading companies and serves on various Irish Government agencies and business groups. He is also Chairman of Excelsyn Ltd., a leading supplier of active intermediates to the pharmaceutical industry.
From 1999 to 2007, as Managing Director of Wyeth, Ireland, he had overall responsibility for one of the world's largest biotech facilities from initial design to sustaining operations.
Prior to 1999 he was Senior Vice President and Director for SmithKline's worldwide operations involving 26 facilities in 11 countries.
Dr. Shaw graduated from National University Of Ireland, Galway in 1974 with a PhD in Physical Chemistry. He was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland in 1984 and a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering in 2005.
Dr Shaw was appointed Chairman of the HRB in June 2007.
